    Autumn '06

    • When we see something, we analyse its structure, texture, colour, material, and understand what it is in an instant. But we often see beyond its appearance, try to understand it by delving into the deep meaning, which could be shaped by culture, education, society, etc. I believe this abstract process creates a diverse and richer communication, and it is the key to human creativity.

This is the print carefully reproduced from the original work “Autumn '06”, which I created just after moving to the Lake District, UK. This is one of my early works with my brush hatching technique using Japanese sumi ink and acrylic. Through the subject of "fallen leaves”, I explore the power of metaphor about the fragility of life. It is my interpretation of the concept of Still Life genre. Definitely one of my favourite works of all time.
