    Hazy Shade of Winter (Diptych)

    • This is the print carefully reproduced from the original work “Hazy Shade of Winter (Diptych)”, which depicted a man walking with his dog at the seashore in a chilly winter morning.

The original work is a semi-abstract landscape inspired by one of the modern American masters Mark Rothko. The organic yet strongly geometric composition formed by sky, sea and sand was my interpretation of Rothko’s abstract paintings. Against the composition, I depicted a man and a dog individually on each canvas for creating a lyrical narrative.
Regarding the diptych style, it was originated from Greek and adopted into Christianity as the portable altarpiece for travelling. I wanted to enhance the concept for indicating the dualistic meaning, such as life and death, light and darkness, visible and invisible, etc., which has become obsolete in our materialistic society. In this way, a story set in a winter misty morning at the seashore was born by weaving a notion over history and philosophy as warps and a reflection on art as woofs.

      本ポスターは、張り詰めた冬のある朝、一人の男が犬を連れて海辺を散歩している様を描いた作品『Hazy Shade of Winter (Diptych)』を忠実に再現したものです。
